Rick Edmonson

Captain Rick Edmonson has been with the California Department of Insurance Fraud Division since 1996. Originally starting as a Student Assistant in the Los Angeles Regional Office, he has progressed through the ranks and the special assignments of Detective, Field Training Officer, Enforcement Tactics and Training Unit Instructor, Detective Sergeant and Captain. In his role as Captain, he is currently the Regional Coordinator for the Los Angeles Automobile Insurance Fraud Task Force, which is comprised of CDI Detectives, CHP Investigators and LADA Investigators and Prosecutors.

Captain Edmonson regularly travels around the State of California providing training to CHP, local law enforcement, prosecutors and the insurance industry on Staged Collisions and other types of automobile insurance fraud.

Additionally, Captain Edmonson also was previously assigned to the Cargo Theft Interdiction Program (CTIP – administered by CHP), Taskforce for Regional Auto-Theft Prevention (TRAP – administered by LASD) and was both a Detective and Detective Sergeant on the Los Angeles Automobile Insurance Fraud Task Force (LA AIFTF – administered by CDI).
