Eric J. Danowitz is an attorney with Mokri Vanis & Jones, LLP in Newport Beach who practices in the areas of insurance special investigation litigation, healthcare litigation, worker’s compensation defense and civil qui tam litigation. Eric has been practicing in these fields since 2008, and has been counsel on several of the largest and most complex qui tam litigations in the State of California. Mr. Danowitz also advises on numerous insurance matters related to special investigations and litigation, including ERISA matters.
Eric also regularly litigates workers’ compensation claims/lien consolidation proceedings at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, and has litigated over 25 lien consolidations to date. Mr. Danowitz is currently liaison counsel to a number of the Physician Suspension Consolidations pending before the Special Adjudication Unit with the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
Eric regularly represents clients before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, California Superior Court, as well as representing insurance carriers as victims of fraud in criminal matters filed in the State of California.
Over the years Eric has regularly lectured at the Anti-Fraud Alliance Conference, the Southern California Fraud Insurance Association Conference, and the International Association of Special Investigation Units Conference on issues related to healthcare fraud, special investigations, pharmaceutical fraud, and discovery tactics and deposition strategy in complex healthcare litigation.
Mr. Danowitz was named the International Association of Special Investigation Units – Southern California Chapter Attorney of the Year in 2014, and was recently named to Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for 2017.
In October 2017, Mr. Danowitz was lead counsel in the qui tam action People ex. rel. ZAIC v. Emphacare, in which he helped secure a $5.8 million dollar judgment after trial for false home healthcare bills submitted in a workers’ compensation claim.
