John Philpott John Philpott has been a San Diego County Deputy District Attorney for over 17 years, handling a wide variety of cases. He is currently assigned to the Insurance Fraud Division where he serves as the Major Case Specialist. He also has been cross designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. John recently served for several years as the Team Leader for the Auto Insurance Fraud & Urban Grant Units in the Insurance Fraud Division. He is also an Ethics Advisor for the office.
John has handled a variety of felony cases including murder, rape, arson, auto insurance fraud, workers compensation applicant fraud, and health care fraud. He has lectured on various topics for CDAA, POST, San Diego County Bar Association, CHP, California Department of Insurance, and Western States Auto Theft Investigators Association. Additionally, he has guest lectured at San Diego State University and the University of San Diego.
Prior to becoming a prosecutor, John worked for over five years as a civil litigator. He is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. John received his B.A from Loyola Marymount University and his J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of San Diego.
