Cindy Elias is an experienced trial attorney, having tried nearly fifty jury trials to verdict. Cindy is a graduate of University of California at Berkeley and Golden Gate University School of Law.
Cindy joined the Labor Commissioner’s Office (“LCO”) in 2018 as a Bureau of Field Enforcement attorney in the San Francisco office and served as a criminal advisor to the Labor Commissioner’s Office’s Criminal Investigative Unit. Since joining the Labor Commissioner’s Office, she has recovered nearly $8 million dollars in unpaid wages and penalties. Prior to joining the Labor Commissioner’s Office, Cindy served as a Deputy Public Defender at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office, where she litigated thousands of criminal cases.
Cindy is currently Special Counsel to the Labor Commissioner, Lilia Garcia-Brower. Cindy works on a broad range of initiatives, including incorporating restorative justice elements to case outcomes, building a trauma informed law practice, strengthening recovery efforts, increasing collaborations with local prosecutors throughout the State, and expanding our enforcement and litigation efforts to make the LCO a robust litigating powerhouse.
Cindy is also President of the San Francisco Police Commission, where she is responsible for creating policy for the San Francisco Police Department and conducting disciplinary hearings relating to police misconduct.
