Just How Worker’s Compensation is Supposed to Work

In order to properly investigate workers’ compensation fraud it is important to understand how it is supposed to work. The system, often referred to as “civil” is actually an administrative system that works quite differently than the civil or criminal courts. There are acronyms that are tossed about in the industry that, to the lay person, would not be recognized but an investigator should know. Since fraud requires obtaining benefits that were not owed, it is similarly important to understand what those benefits are. This course will explore how the California Workers’ Compensation System works and how workers, attorneys, doctors and even employers game the system – either by abusing it or committing outright fraud.
