
Senior DDA Raymund Diaz has been in the Insurance Fraud Unit since October 2018. He began as a member of the automobile insurance fraud team and then transferred to the workers’ compensation insurance fraud program in August 2019. He has specialized in prosecuting public works cases since 2020. Mr. Diaz handles supplemental job displacement voucher fraud, and public works cases involving wage theft, denial of workers’ compensation benefits, and workers’ compensation insurance premium fraud. Mr. Diaz has been with OCDA since 2005 and has worked in the juvenile and adult court systems handling a variety of prosecutorial duties, including filing misdemeanors and felonies, and conducting preliminary hearings as well as misdemeanor and felony jury trials. Mr. Diaz is an experienced trial attorney and has handled serious, violent, and complex criminal prosecutions. In addition, Mr. Diaz has and will continue to train different groups to recognize the close connection between workers’ compensation insurance fraud and wage theft crimes in the public works sector. Mr. Diaz has consulted with and trained investigators from CDI, watchdog groups such as the CCC and the Carpenters/Contractors Cooperation Committee (Quad C), different labor unions, prosecutors and investigators from other counties and enforcement agencies, as well as insurance investigators. Mr. Diaz is also a member of CDAA, OCBA, and SCFIA. Mr. Diaz regularly presents trainings at all insurance fraud conferences and local labor union meetings throughout the years. He fights to level the playing field for all law-abiding workers, employers, and the public, and to provide justice for all victims of crime.
